Power Surge Damage Found and Repaired on a 2021 Trane Gas System in Houston, TX
Houston homeowners rely on their HVAC systems year-round, especially during our intense weather seasons. Recently, our team responded to a service call at a Houston-area home where a 2021 Trane gas HVAC system had unexpectedly stopped working.
After a full inspection, we discovered the system had been damaged by a power surge, which caused the disconnect box and capacitor to fail. Power surges are common in the Houston area due to storms, grid fluctuations, and lightning, and they can silently damage critical HVAC components.
To resolve the issue, we replaced the damaged disconnect box, installed a hard start kit, and added a dedicated surge protector to help prevent future electrical damage. Once repairs were completed, we powered the system back on and confirmed it was operating normally and safely before departure.
Homeowner takeaway: If your HVAC system suddenly stops working after a storm or power outage, electrical damage may be the cause. Installing a surge protector is a smart investment for Houston homeowners looking to protect modern HVAC systems and avoid costly repairs.
